Should I exercise when I’m sick???
This is a question I hear a lot in the winter. With this winter being a cold one, many people have been suffering colds and flus. Unfortunately, winter isn’t over so I thought I’d touch base on this topic.
There isn’t much research in this area but I always tell my clients to listen to their bodies. If you have cold symptoms and no fever, it’s ok to exercise moderately. However, if you have the flu, fever, muscle aches and swollen lymph glands, you should refrain from exercise! Rest up, drink plenty of fluids and take care of yourself! When you start back up, progress slowly and gently!
An important thing to always remember, even if you take a few days off to recover, it really won’t make that big of a difference to your overall fitness levels or weight if you are consistent with your exercise routine the rest of the time
